Choosing where to sleep on your coastal escape shouldn’t feel complicated. But with five distinct room types on offer, guests planning their stay often ask us the same thing: which one is right for me?
This Gallivant hotel rooms guide walks you through each of our twenty individually designed bedrooms, so you can book with total confidence whether you’re after a snug hideaway for two or a light-filled retreat with garden doors thrown wide open.

Think driftwood frames, oak panelling, marble bathrooms and colour palettes lifted straight from the dunes across the road.
We have five room categories:
All rooms come with king or super-king Hypnos beds, bath products, a Smart TV, and a mini fridge. Every one of our twenty rooms is different, so getting a feel for the categories first genuinely helps.
Imagine waking up, sliding open a set of French doors, and stepping straight out onto a private deck with the coastal garden just beyond. That’s the Garden Room experience.
These rooms feature oak-wood panelling, beamed ceilings and bespoke artwork, with a small sitting area and day bed tucked into the corner a lovely spot for a lazy afternoon read.
Some Garden Rooms have a walk-in rainfall shower, while one has a bath too, so do ask us when booking if a soak is non-negotiable for you.
They’re a favourite with couples who want their own outdoor space without stepping up to our largest category.
If you’re after the full “happiness is a place by the sea” experience, this is it. Our Luxury Garden Rooms are the largest at The Gallivant, with enormous super-king beds set into library walls and pocket doors that slide open to reveal a large roll-top bathtub, marble vanity and monsoon shower.
Light pours in as the room opens onto the coastal garden, tactfully divided from its neighbours so it still feels entirely your own. These are the rooms we recommend for anniversaries, honeymoons, or simply when you want to properly slow down for a few days.
Don’t let the name fool you; there’s nothing small about the feeling of a Baby Hampton room. Calming colours, oak panelling behind a king bed, and a pristine white marble bathroom with bath and monsoon shower above make this a genuinely restful space.
For longer breaks by the sea, the Large Hampton is hard to beat. It’s one of our biggest bedrooms, full of natural light, dressed in soft blues, light oaks and warm oak panelling.
There’s proper storage: a fitted wardrobe, larder and drinks chiller, plus a larger bathroom and a day bed that converts into a small double. If you’re settling in for a few days of Rye antique-hunting and beach walks, this room gives you the space to unpack properly and relax.
Our smallest rooms are also some of our most-loved. Snug Cabins are tiny sanctuaries by the sea think bleached wood, statement headboards, and a warm, calm feel that suits solo travellers, weekend wanderers, and dog owners alike (we do have a few dog-friendly rooms, so let us know when booking).
They’re proof that you don’t need acres of space to feel completely at home. Many guests tell us the Snug Cabins feel like their own little beach hut, just steps from Harry’s and the dunes.
A few gentle questions to help you decide:
There’s really no wrong choice here; every room shares that same relaxed, coastal warmth. It’s more about matching the space to the shape of your stay.
However you picture your time with us bare feet on the sand, sunset over the dunes there’s a room here that fits. Have a browse of our individual room pages for the full picture, room by room, or take a look at our current offers if you fancy a package with dinner at Harry’s.
